What is a biblical marriage? I have married for 6 years and I have two children. My wife and I are both Christians and we try to live as biblically as possible. When I think about marriage, two verses in the Bible always comes to my mind. I don't know exact words of the verses, but I can remember the main message of the verses. First verse is about a wife and it says "Obey your husband as churches obey Jesus Christ." Basically a husband is the head of the household in the Bible. This is not a welcomed idea since gender equality has been more and more emphasized in this society. However the Bible clearly shows that the head of household is a husband and also a father. So even if a wife can give her opinion on family decisions, the final say is always on a husband. Second verse is for a husband. "You should love your wife like Jesus Christ loved churches and gave His life to them." When I first heard of only first verse, I thought it was unfair to wives, but that thought was changed when I heard the second verse. It very hard to imagine how much Jesus scrificed for us. He lived a life only for us and even gave His life for us. That's what I should do for my wife. I feel so embarrassed whenever I think of what I did to my wife before. I have to think this. What would Jesus do?
