when the client phone in and may say ; "I want to know the current state of my goods's clearance" or "I wnat to speak to Mr John(he is my Boss)"

then I should say "Sir, if I heard you correctly you (may) would want to speak with supervisor?"

and the client reply "Yes I am", and I would say "OK I will let you know the current state(and ask for the B/L No.)" or "I will Transfer you to my Boss."

CORRECTION: hi Felix,the word boss is informal to use when communicating on the phone. Use manager or supervisor instead,may is more respectful than can.Use this at all times. Nothing to correct there and kudos to a job well  done!
