You think you are suffering from a specific event. But the cognitive therapy says that you are suffering from thoughts which how you think of the events. If you change the thoughts, you can change your feelings and senses. Your thoughts might be irrational n negative. We change the thoughts to rational things. You can't chage the event which is already happens, but you can change your thought how you think of the events though.
